South County YMCA

On August 20, 2011; the South County YMCA celebrated the opening of their new Sky Academy health and wellness charter school.

Along with the YMCA and Halfacre Construction Company, Suncoast Architect, Inc. designed the renovation and addition of an existing building at the YMCA Campus.

The existing 9,568 square foot single story building will be expanded to two floors totaling 16,163 square feet including a main lobby, offices, assembly area, media center and classrooms.

Chamber of Commerce

The Englewood Cape Haze Area Chamber of Commerce has moved into their new office building designed by Suncoast Architect, Inc. at 601 S. Indiana Ave. in Englewood.

The new 3,500 square foot office building includes the Chamber’s Visitor Center and a 1,000 square foot Conference Room. The building’s design is a modern interpretation of the Old Florida Style.

Many thanks go out to the General Contractor for the project; Truex Preferred Construction and all of their suppliers and subcontractors who made the project a success.

Green Main Street

DMK Associates, a civil engineering company, based in Venice, FL is currently working on the West Dearborn St. Low Impact Development Stormwater Pilot Project for the Sarasota County Board of County Commissioners.

Suncoast Architect is actively involved in the project as a consultant through Florida Waterscapes LLC, a consortium of professionals specializing in LID technologies, of which Suncoast Architect, Inc. is a member of.

In addition to improving water quality this trend setting project will focus on revitalizing a blighted area into a sustainable community, striving to be the First Green Main Street in Florida.
